How You Can Help

Dear Community Member,

As the nation’s leading drop-out prevention program, we know that if a student is not reading at his or her grade level by the third grade, that child is four times less likely to graduate high school and SIX times less likely to graduate if they are low-income. (There is a direct connection between literacy rates, high school drop-out rates, and crime.) CIS is one of a few organizations that has research to prove our model helps school districts reduce dropout rates and improve graduation rates.  Through a school-based site coordinator model working in cooperation with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System and partner organizations, CIS of Savannah connects students and their families to critical community resources tailored to local needs. Private financial support plays an increasingly critical role as we strive to serve our students, families, teachers, and schools. On behalf of the 350 Chatham County students and families that Communities in Schools of Savannah serves, we ask that you consider Communities in Schools of Savannah when making your philanthropic decisions throughout the year.

Thank you.
