We consider Volunteers to be critical partners in our success. We are always looking for volunteers to assist us in the following areas:

Become an AmeriCorps Volunteer! CIS of Savannah is currently seeking two Reading Tutors to serve at a local elementary school. Qualified AmeriCorps volunteers will serve 25 hours/week, provide reading tutoring in local schools, recruit volunteers, earn a certificate in tutoring, receive a monthly living allowance, receive federal student loan forbearance, and receive the Segal Education Award to help pay for school and loans. Program Dates are from September 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018. For more information please visit http://www.cisga.org/americorps/and indicate SAVANNAH on the application.

- Book Buddies: The CIS Book Buddies is a school-based tutoring program that uses community volunteers to help 2nd – 5th-grade students become better at reading. VOLUNTEERS are requested to commit to a minimum of ONE HOUR once a week on a semi-consistent basis. Click here to volunteer!
- Volunteer Reading Tutors: The CIS Reading Tutorial Program provides an opportunity for committed participants to engage in tutoring activities which target students from 2nd to 5th grade. Volunteer Reading Tutors will provide no less than 3 hours a week throughout the school year. Volunteer Tutors will provide literacy support at Savannah Chatham County Public School sites. - CIS Read-Ins (grades 2-5) Does your company or civic group has an expressed interest in coordinated efforts that assist the youth of our community? CIS Read-Ins are a great way to assist students as a team. CIS will work with your group coordinator to schedule a date and time where your group can assist as Book-Buddies for the day. You can participate via already calendared events such as Real Men Read (calendared annually in November) OR we can schedule a team day just for your group. Topics range from crime prevention/anti-gang, early intervention, job opportunities in the community, employer expectations, soft skills, financial literacy, wellness, legal issues, safety, and more!
